Largest Disrtict of Punjab:
District Bahawalpur is the Largest District of Punjab province. It is also a Division of Punjab. It is further divided into 5 Tehsils like Bahawalpur,
Hasilpur, Khairpur, Tamewali, Ahmadpur East, Yazman and 107 Union Councils. Headquarter of this District
is Tehsil Bahawalpur. District Bahawalpur is covered the total 24830 square km area which makes it the largest District of Punjab.
According to 1998 census total population of Bahawalpur District is 2,433,091.
It has low population density due to its large unpopulated tracts of land i.e.
98 people per square km. The large swathe of this district is covered by
Cholistan Desert (almost two-third area of this district consists of Desert).
Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan Districts form its
boundaries in the East and West respectively, while Lodhran and Vehari
districts are situated in the North across the river Sutlej, which flows from North-East to North-West. On the South and
South-East the district forms the international Border with India.
